What you can learn with ACT

Our team of Overdose Rescue Trainers host Overdose Rescue Training sessions that are open to the public, and we also offer training sessions for private groups and organizations. Private training sessions are currently offered via Zoom or in-person at a location that is convenient for your group. We continue to host weekly public overdose rescue training sessions via Zoom.

The training session lasts approximately one hour. During the training presentation, we cover information about the magnitude of the opioid overdose crisis and its impact on our community, how to recognize the signs of an overdose, how to respond to an overdose including how and when to administer Narcan, how to perform CPR, and aftercare considerations for overdose survivors.

At the completion of the training, all participants receive a free Overdose Rescue Kit containing Narcan - an overdose-reversal medicine that comes in an easy-to-use nasal spray device. The kit is also printed with instructions for providing aid during an overdose emergency and contains resource cards with information about local treatment and recovery services. Participants who attend an online session and have a Michigan mailing address will receive their Overdose Rescue Kit in the mail following the training.
